What happens during a Swedish Massage?

Using oil, the massage therapist will typically begin massaging you with broad general strokes in the direction of the blood returning to the heart, and then use specific strokes to address problem areas. The massage consists of a combination of five basic strokes, the pressure of which is varied between soft to medium pressure as per personal needs.

The Swedish Massage is great at relaxing the body, but it delivers many other specific benefits including increasing blood oxygen levels, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while at the same time easing off tension.

Before/After Massage Tip

As with every massage, you can expect to feel stiff and even tender, though this willsubside after a couple of days leaving you more relaxed than ever.

If you desire to reduce the tenderness, warm-up your muscles with a bath, a heat pack or steam. Once your muscles are warm, we also recommend dynamic stretching to release some of the tenderness and to further lengthen your muscles.

It is also essential to stay hydrated before and after the treatment to ensure that you get the best results.

Avoid eating right before a massage.
